Its primary focus is facilitating sustained improvement in livelihoods of the country’s population with a bias towards those in rural Zambia. Among other things, this is largely done through: (i) the company’s involvement in the implementation of interventions that are targeted at directly improving the livelihoods of the country’s poor and disadvantaged; (ii) provision of key performance indicators of various development programs and initiatives going on in the country through the provision of monitoring and evaluation services.
Corporate Tax Rate on Farming Income Reduced
The Zambian government has reduced corporate tax on farming income from 15 to ten for the charge year the year commencing on 1st April, 2012, and ending 31st December, 2012. What this means is that for registered companies, income earned from agricultural activities will be taxed at 10%. This is in contrast to the standard corporate tax rate of 35% which other firms pay (income tax amendment bill, 2012; 2012 budget address).
